Falcons Pounce on Pride

HAMMOND, Ind. – The CUW ACHA hockey team showed off in their seventh straight conference showdown.

The Falcons started off hot, opening the first minute with two back-to-back goals.  The first came off the stick of freshman Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) with an assist from his brother, senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.).  In the same minute, junior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) netted a goal off the sticks of the Wilderman brothers once again.

The end of the first period saw a 2-1 lead for the flock as the Pride scored in the 12th minute.

Two more Falcon goals were scored in the second period.  The first came from sophomore John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) with assists from junior Connor Doyle (Naples, Fla.) and freshman Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.).  The second Falcon goal of the period came off the stick of Cassel. Swiatek picked up the payback assist after Cassel had the helper on the earlier goal to Swiatek.

The second period ended with a score of 4-2.

Five goals, one quarter.  That was the outcome of the third period for the Falcons.  John Swiatek posted his second hat-trick of the season with the first two goals of the third period.  Swiatek scored two goals in 37 seconds at the two-minute mark with assists on the first from Garrett Wilderman and junior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.) and the second by Wyatt Wilderman and Tommy Cassel

The Falcons weren't done there as Cassel would score his second goal of the game in the fourth minute with assists from Connor Doyle and Wyatt Wilderman

That has to be it right?  Wrong.  The Falcons scored two more goals in the third period.  The first was at the nine-minute mark from Williams with an assist from Scott Gregor and the final Falcon goal was unassisted, also from Williams.

The Falcons look to complete the series sweep of the Pride in a rematch on Nov. 20th inside the Ozaukee Ice Center
