Falcons Lace Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The CUW ACHA hockey team traveled to Illinois to take on Lewis in a two-game away series this weekend.

The Falcons started strong with junior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) recording his first hat-trick of the season. His first goal came in the 16th minute off the stick of sophomore John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.). His second goal came in the 19th minute of the first period off the stick of freshman Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) and senior Ethan Natzke (Ballwin, Minn.).

Gregor's third goal came three minutes into the second period unassisted.

The Falcons didn't stop here. They scored two more times, one in the second off the stick of Swiatek from Gregor in the second period and the last in the third period from junior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.) with assists from senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.) as well as Swiatek. The fifth Falcon goal was on a power-play opportunity.

The Falcons had to mount a comeback in the game when Lewis took the lead in the 12th minute of the first period, but they didn't have a worry with Gregor recording the second Falcon hat-trick of the season.

In his 60 minutes played, junior Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) recorded 37 saves to give the Falcons the 5-2 victory.

The Falcons continue their road trip as they take on Lewis again on Saturday.
