Falcons Finish Series Sweep at Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The CUW ACHA hockey team finished its series at Lewis University Saturday evening.

The Falcons struck first when they scored in the third minute off the stick of senior Ethan Natzke (Ballwin, Minn.).  This unassisted goal was the only Falcon goal in the first two and a half periods.

Lewis scored once in the first period to tie the game and then again two more times in the third period to take the 3-1 lead.

The Falcons weren't scared as they cut the deficit to one in the 11th minute off the stick of freshman Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) with assists from sophomore John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) and junior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.).

The Falcons scored the game-tying goal in the 17th minute of the third period with Natzke's second goal of the game and another assist from Easton Williams.

Lewis thought they would take the game into overtime until junior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) netted the game-winning goal in the 18th minute with an assist from Garrett Wilderman.

That was not the last Falcon goal as they added an insurance goal with 24 seconds left in the matchup from junior Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.).  Senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.) got in on the action with an assist to Sherman.

Seven Falcons registered points in the second game of the series with a game-high of two scored by three Falcons: Natzke, Williams, and Garrett Wilderman.

Junior Ian Robertson (Calgary, Alta.) got the nod in goal on Saturday, making 31 saves in his third NCHL start.

The Falcons continue their road stand at Purdue Northwest on Friday.
