CUW reached the AVCA Bronze Championship Match

INDIANAPOLIS – The CUW women's volleyball team competed at the AVCA Division III Championship this weekend.

On Friday, in pool play, the Falcons fell to the eventual tournament champions Carthage, 3-1, and Earlham, 3-2.

Junior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) led CUW with 10 kills against No. 5 Carthage, while junior Madelyn Alton (Farwell, Minn.) and sophomore Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) had 15 digs each.

Against the Quakers of Earlham, junior McKenna Nigl (Richland Center, Wis.) landed 10 kills and four total blocks. Collins once again led the Blue and White with 12 kills. Junior Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) had a double-double performance with 28 assists and 10 digs.

On Saturday, the Falcons waxed Webster, 3-1, to advance to the Bronze Championship match. Sierra Lee anchored a double-double performance with 28 assists and 13 digs. Jenna Chaussee led the effort with 14 kills in the victory.

CUW closed the tournament against perennial powerhouse Illinois Wesleyan with a 3-2 loss. Jenna Chaussee once again led CUW with 14 kills. Madelyn Alton dug up 31 balls against the Titans and Sierra Lee had 21 assists and 12 digs.

Concordia closes the regular season on Sunday on senior day against Marian. The Falcons can claim the NACC North crown outright with two victories.
