Women’s Volleyball sweeps Edgewood

MEQUON, Wis. - The Falcons competed in a close-knit match against the Edgewood College Eagles.

Edgewood would put the first point on the board with a kill.

The Falcons would fire back with three consecutive points. Junior Annie Marie Olszowska (Bolingbrook, Ill.) would get a service ace, and there would be two attack errors by Edgewood.

The Blue and White would go on another run, starting with a kill by junior McKenna Nigl (Richland Center, Wis.). Sophomore Sierra Lee (Kenosha, Wis.) would serve for the Falcons and force two attack errors on the Eagles. The Falcons would see their eighth point from a kill by sophomore Gabriella Kaebisch (Paddock Lake, Wis.).

Concordia would take the first set 25-18.

The second set was a close score until the Falcons went on several streaks, starting with a kill by freshman Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.).

The Falcons would force a timeout for Edgewood with a lead 7-3.

Women's volleyball would win the second set 25-15.

The third set would follow the same suit as the other two as Edgewood would get the first point on the board again. The Blue and White would go on another streak starting with a kill by Karpfinger.

Junior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) would have two kills in a row, and Karpfinger would cause two attack errors for Edgewood to increase the score 9-4.

Karpfinger would continue to do her magic and allow the Falcons to go on an eight-point streak after forcing another timeout for Edgewood.

Edgewood would fire back to go on a four-point streak before junior Olivia Richter (Naperville, Ill.) would break that streak to give the falcons the set point and match point.

Collins would end the day with a kill, allowing the Falcons to sweep the Eagles.

Collins tallied nine kills for the Falcons, with Richter following with eight kills.

Concordia looks to keep this momentum flowing into next week's battle at Edgewood. The Falcons will compete in a doubleheader against the Eagles, starting at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
