Women’s Soccer roasts the Eagles

VERONA, Wis. – The CUW women's soccer team continued its 2021 tour of the NACC North on Wednesday night and once again left the home crowd speechless after a 5-0 victory at Edgewood. The victory keeps CUW atop of the division at 7-0-0.

The Falcons opened the performance with one of their classics early in the show with a goal by sophomore Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) from 25 feet out into the left corner off a pass from junior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).

Downs turned up the volume in the 12th minute when she ran past the defenders and put the ball away.

We are starting to sound like a broken record, but Isabel Downs found the back of the net again in the 53rd minute.

Senior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) jammed the ball into the upper left corner of the net in the 63rd minute off a quick pass from Isabel Downs.

Good times never seemed so good when Karoline Haugland ended the performance with a goal in the 88th minute off a cross from Isabel Downs.

Senior Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) kept the home fans quiet again and saved all three shots on the net.

CUW held a 31-11 advantage in shots on Wednesday.

CUW clinched a share of the NACC North Division crown with tonight's victory and can win the title outright with a victory or a tie on Sunday against MSOE.
