Wrestling Finishes Seventh at the CCIW Championship

ROCK, ISLAND, Ill. – The CUW wrestling team competed at the CCIW wrestling championship on Saturday afternoon at Augustana. The Falcons finished in seventh place with 57.5 points.

The Falcons had six wrestlers finish in the top-six places on Saturday.

Freshman Lucas Regnier (Bradley, Ill.) won the silver medal in the 149-pound weight class on Saturday. He advanced to the finals where he fell to Peter McCusker of Millikin in major decision, 13-1.

Sophomore Jack O'Donnell (Huntington Beach, Calif.) won the bronze medal in the 157-pound weight class with a technical fall over Caleb Brick of MSOE at 4:02.

Two Falcons earned fourth-place finishes on Saturday. Sophomore Gabe Rodriguez (Las Vegas, Nev.) recorded a fourth-place finish in the 125-pound weight class and junior Austin Vincent (Stockton, Ill.) was also fourth in the 133-pound weight class.

Sophomore Quinn Hoopman (Cedar Grove, Wis.) finished fifth in the 165-pound weight class with a 10-4 decision over Joe Caringella of Elmhurst.

Sophomore Bryce Karban (Coleman, Wis.) recorded a sixth-place finish in the 174-pound weight class.

Millikin won the title with 153.5 points.
