Women's Hockey unable to capitalize against No. 7 Lake Forest

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team did a great job of creating several strong scoring chances Friday night against Lake Forest, the No. 7 ranked team in the nation. Unfortunately, the Falcons failed to capitalize on those chances, falling 3-0 to the Foresters at the Ozaukee Ice Center.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: No. 7 Lake Forest 3, Concordia Wisconsin 0
- Location: Ozaukee Ice Center – Mequon, Wisconsin
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 6-8-2, 2-6-2 NCHA; Lake Forest 14-2-1, 8-1-1 NCHA

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons finished the game with 32 shots on goal, but couldn't finish any of them to get on the board. Plenty of that was due to the play of the Foresters' Jacque Rogers, who recorded the shutout for her team.

- Sophomore Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) had a strong game of her own between the pipes, stopping 33 shots. She made 14 of those saves in a perfect second period while adding 11 in the third.

- The final two goals for the Foresters were scored on the power play as they finished the night 2-for-5 with the advantage. The Falcons finished 0-for-4 on the power play.

- Lake Forest scored 3:37 into play for a 1-0 lead on a goal by Kayla Griffith and tacked on a power play score 14:04 into the first. The final goal came midway through the third period off the stick of Olivia Spellmire, who paced the Foresters with a goal and an assist on Friday.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons are in the midst of a five-game stretch against ranked opponents. They played twice at Adrian last weekend, a team ranked fourth nationally and will play three straight against the Foresters.

UP NEXT
- CUW will host Lake Forest again tomorrow night at the Ozaukee Ice Center. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
