Sabres Swipe Sunday Series From Softball

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team fell short on Sunday in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Marian. The Sabres secured the Sunday series with 4-0 and 5-2 victories. The Falcons move to 17-9 on the year and 8-4 in conference play.

The Falcons had the first quality opportunity of the day in the third inning when sophomore Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.) tripled into the gap in right-center field, but two ground outs ended the inning.

Senior Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) started the fourth inning with a leadoff double to right field. Junior Julia Moker (Hubertus, Wis.) then advanced to third with a fly out to right field off the bat of junior Rylie Duval (Elgin, Ill.), but the inning fizzled out with two strikeouts.

Sophomore Emma Shellstrom (San Diego, Calif.) was sensational again in the circle on Sunday and tied her season high with seven strikeouts.

Sophomore Kylie Strupp (Slinger, Wis.) pitched the final inning for the Falcons.

Megan Bloyer was lethal from behind the plate and threw out both Sabres that tried to steal a base.

The Falcons' lone runs of the day came off the bat of junior Maggie Plahmer (Slinger, Wis.) in the second inning of game two when she smacked a double down the left-field line that scored junior Taylor Jacobson (Kenosha, Wis.) and Rylie DuVal.

The Sabres scored four runs in the fourth inning to take the lead with a three-run home run and a bunt single.

The Black and Blue struck again in the seventh inning with a single that plated the final run.

Senior Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.) had four strikeouts to open the contest. Sophomore Kylie Van de Loo (Menasha, Wis.) and Emma Shellstrom both had a strikeout.
