Softball Ends Split with a No-Hitter

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team had its first road bump of the spring break trip on Thursday. The Falcons opened the day with a 10-2 loss to Adrian and finished with an 11-0 victory over Neumann to move 5-3 on the year and 5-1 on the Florida trip.

The Bulldogs started the day with three runs in the top of the third inning.

The Falcons struck back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Senior Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) had a shot to shortstop to plate sophomore Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.).

Senior Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) then continued the triple show with a blast to right-center field to send in senior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.).

Adrian scored the game with a 7-0 run.

Sophomore Emma Shellstrom (San Diego, Calif.) had seven strikeouts in the start.

Jess Pozezinski and junior Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.) both had two hits.

The Falcons quickly turned the page and struck first in game two.

Megan Bloyer singled to left field to score Jess Pozezinski.

CUW scored three more runs in the second inning.

Jenna Shadoski started it with a single through the left side of the infield to score junior Taylor Jacobson (Kenosha, Wis.).

Junior Nora Statz (Helenville, Wis.) scorched the ball to third base allowing Jenna Shadoski to score.

Another double steal was successful for the Falcons when Nora Statz stole second and Jess Pozezinski stole home.

In the third inning, Rylie DuVal doubled into the gap in right-center allowing Jasmine Freeze to score. DuVal later scored on a wild pitch.

A double for Jenna Shadoski down the left-field line sent Taylor Jacobson across home plate.

Jess Pozezinski had a missile to left field that scored Shadoski.

The third-inning scoring ended when Jasmine Freeze had a single role through the middle of the infield that landed Nora Statz and Jess Pozezinski on home plate.

Junior Julia Moker (Hubertus, Wis.) ended the scoring in the fourth inning with a shot to third base that allowed freshman Jasmine Reyes (Santa Clarita, Calif.) to cross home plate.

Senior Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.) had her first career no-hitter performance with only two walks against.

The Falcons stole four bases with Jess Pozezinski stealing two.

The quartet of Jess Pozezinski, Megan Bloyer, Jasmine Freeze and Jenna Shadoski all had two hits in the contest.

The Falcons close spring break action on Friday against St. Mary's and Lebanon Valley.
