Softball secures five on Dome Classic All-Tournament Team

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Finlandia Department of Athletics announced the 2020 Dome Classic All-Tournament Team on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons were the champions of the tournament after posting a perfect 4-0 record on the weekend over Northland, Finlandia, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Superior. The five selections were the most of the five teams.

"I am really proud of how the team played this weekend," said head coach Steve Crook. "I thought that we had a lot of great performances from many individuals this weekend."

Sophomore Nicki Becker (Brodhead, Wis.) was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament after posting a 3-0 record in the circle on the weekend.  She also recorded 12 strikeouts and a 0.00 earned-run average.

The Falcons also had four other all-tournament selections.

Senior Molly O'Connell (New London, Wis.) made her second appearance on the Dome Classic All-Tournament Team.

Junior Kelsey Bollon (Orangeville, Ill.) finished the weekend with six hits, including two doubles. She also led the flock with five RBI.

Sophomore Krystal Cortes (Aurora, Ill.) led CUW with six hits, including two doubles. She also notched three RBI and two walks.

Sophomore Gina Followell (Romeoville, Ill.) earned a victory in the circle and had 19 strikeouts. Against Northland, she threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Also on the team from Finlandia was Rheanna Bain, Denia Bent and Emily Nguyen. UW-Superior had Amanda Kishish, Tiffany Kirk and Alayna Tulip on the team. UW-Stevens Point landed Maddix Bonnellm Sammy Buerger, Ashley Cohen and Lauren Luedtke on the team, while Northland added Kayla Preisler.

CUW will compete again on March 14 in Florida.
