Softball secures 12 NFCA Scholar Athletes

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin was recognized by the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association for its efforts in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year with NFCA Scholar Athlete Award .The CUW softball program landed 12 scholar athletes in 2019. Athletes who achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale are recognized as NFCA Scholar Athletes.

"We have a strong history of academic success," said head coach Steve Crook. "But being able to maintain our high academic standards and win a NACC title makes this past year even more special. Our 2019 team will be remembered for being champions in the classroom and on the field."

Of the total 12 athletes, CUW had three student-athletes finish with a 4.00 GPA in Heather Renard (Wrightstown, Wis.), Samantha Schumacher (Freedom, Wis.) and Maddie Zazas (Mundelein, Ill.).

Also receiving the award was Emma Schimberg (Random Lake, Wis.), Jeanette Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich., Jenna Broehm (Appleton, Wis.), Molly O'Connell (New London, Wis.), Nicki Becker (Brodhead, Wis.), Nicole Lewis (Manhattan, Ill.), Becky Bonnin (Kenosha, Wis.), Samantha Schloegl (Genoa City, Wis.) and Sara Rosenow (Kimberly, Wis.).­­
