Men’s Cross Country posts strongest season in years

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's cross country team wrapped up one of its strongest season in the last few seasons.

"One of my favorite memories from this year would be our conference meet," said head coach Russ DeLap. "Where everyone had great races, watching the progress each runner made and sharing in the passion we love."

The Falcons were competitive in all six races in 2018, with three top-five finishes.

The Blue and White posted their highest finish at the NACC Championships. CUW finished in third place with 91 points. Freshman Wesley Schiek was named the NACC Runner of the Year with a second-place finish at 24:48.71.

Wesley Schiek and junior Craig Reese (Germantown, Wis.) were named to the All-NACC Team.

Three Falcons posted three of the fastest times in program history at the 2018 NACC Championships. Wesley Schiek had the third-fastest time in program history at 24:48.71, Craig Reese posted the fourth-fastest time at 25:14.88 and freshman Jack Kral's (Kohler, Wis.) performance at the NACC Championships was the 12th-fastest time at 26:33.58.

Wesley Schiek was a two-time NACC Runner of the Week on Oct. 9 and Oct. 30. Reese claimed the honor on Oct. 2.

The Falcons finished the season with a 27th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships. CUW improved five spots from 2017.
