Schlosser stays atop leaderboard, Men’s Golf improves at NACC Championship

HAVEN, Wis. – Sam Schlosser had an up-and-down back nine, but was able to stay atop the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Championship on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, Concordia Wisconsin moved up a spot and is in fourth place after the first half of the tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Sam Schlosser (West Bend, Wis.) had another impressive nine-hole stretch of golf from holes one through nine. He birdied the par 4 fourth, but bogeyed the final hole of the front nine to finish at 36. The righty made things interesting with three birdies, a par, three bogeys and two double bogeys to come in with a 40, for a 4-over par 76 total.
- Concordia Wisconsin had four of its five golfers improve on Monday, which allowed them to shoot a 317 score to move up one spot on the team leaderboard.
- Freshman Nate Benjamin (Tucson, Ariz.) had the greatest difference from the opening round to Monday's 18 holes of competition, with a nine shot improvement. He is tied for 16th after making three birdies and nine pars for a 5-over par 77.
- Sophomore Andrew Otto (Kewaskum, Wis.) carded an 80 after making a birdie putt on hole two and 10 pars throughout the second round to put himself in a tie for 22nd position.
- Junior Jacob Tenlen (Montreal, Wis.) put together a pair of 42s on each set of nine holes for an 84 to move up four spots and into 32nd place overall. He had a birdie and seven pars.
- Senior Nathan Hasenstein (Sheboygan, Wis.) finished with a 98, which included an birdie and two pars, to fall to a tie for 37th overall.

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Aurora moved into first place and has a four-stroke lead over Edgewood after shooting a 307 score for a 616 total.
- Jake Sherwood (Marian) jumped 13 spots and is tied for second place, along with John Torres (Aurora), who both have a 149 total.
- Concordia Wisconsin ranks third in par 4 scoring average a 4.65 strokes. They are also second with 18 birdies.
- Schlosser leads all golfers with a 4.15 average on par 4s and with eight birdies. He is also tied for fourth in par 3 scoring average at 3.00.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin will have time off before returning sometime in the spring for practice, all dependent on the weather, but will play in rounds three and four of the championship on April 22-23 at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Ill.
