Falcons buzzer-beater rims out in CIT Championship game

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin had a chance to win it all at the buzzer, but a 3-pointer went halfway in and rimmed out at the buzzer giving Concordia Nebraska an 86-85 win in a very intense and energetic Concordia Invitational Tournament Championship game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It all came down to the final eight seconds of play with CUNE leading 86-85, Falcons senior DeShawn Robinson (Oak Creek, Wis.) pulled in a rebound giving the CUW one final chance for the win. Junior Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) pushed the ball up the court and the Falcons swung the ball around before finding Robinson open on the wing in front of his own bench for a 3-pointer that could have etched his name in people's mind for decades.
- Robinson's shot went halfway down and rimmed out as the horn sounded, giving Concordia Nebraska a one-point victory.
- After trailing nearly the entire game CUW took the lead with just under four minutes to play. However the Bulldogs would answer to tie and then later take the lead which they would never surrender the rest of the game.
- The Falcons continued to fight and kept it close but could never tie or regain the lead with the time remaining in the game.
- Senior forward Keith Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) led CUW with 20 points and pulled in three rebounds on the night. Senior forward James Mitchell (St. Louis, Mo.) added 17 points for the Falcons and pulled in five rebounds.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kahlfeldt was named All-Tournament for the Falcons

THE OPPOSITION
- The Bulldogs were led by Chandler Folkerts who scored a game-high 24 points

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons take on Marian on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at home in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
