Edwards career day leads Falcons to victory over Regents

MEQUON, Wis. – Taron Edwards had the best game of his career on Saturday, scoring 21 points, to lead Concordia University Wisconsin to an 86-74 victory over Rockford University. The senior guard also had six assists and six steals in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference decision.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The bench did it all on Saturday, scoring 50 points and shooting 17-of-35 (48.6 percent) from the floor in the victory. Taron Edwards was the guiding force with a career-high 21 points, six assists and six steals.
- CUW quickly moved the momentum in its favor with a 12-0 run during a three minute and 48 second span in the early stage of the second half. From then on they led by double-figures the rest of the way.
- The Falcons controlled the game, leading for 35:55 of game action, and holding a lead as large as 16 points.
- CUW appeared to be on its way to a run-away win after storming out to a 24-9 lead through the first nine-and-a-half minutes of the game. However, Rockford charged back and tied the game at 27-27 just over five minutes later. The first half featured four scoring ties and a lead change.
- After leading by just two points at the intermission, the Falcons turned a two-point lead into a 14-point advantage with 13:53 in the game and didn't look back from there.
- Junior Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) added 14 points, including 12 in the second half. Freshman Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots in 21 minutes off the bench.
- Senior Trevor Krizenesky (Brillion, Wis.) scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Regents ended with a decisive 47-30 rebounding advantage, which included 16 offensive rebounds. However, Rockford only had a 15-14 advantage in second chance points.
- Edwards (senior, Racine, Wis.) finished with 10 points in the opening half and 11 during the final 20 minutes of play. His six steals are tied for the eighth most in a single game in program history.
- CUW stole a season-high 22 passes, which was the third most in a game in program history.
- Senior James Mitchell (St. Louis, Mo.) stole a career-best four passes.

THE OPPOSITION
- Zach Wallace led all players with 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
- Michael Murray and John O'Bryan each added 14 points, while Murray hauled in 12 rebounds and rejected four shots. Ross Arteaga recorded four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
