Mason earns academic all-district honors
MEQUON, Wis. – Jacob Mason was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, announced by CoSIDA on Thursday afternoon.
"I couldn't be more pleased and proud of Jacob Mason for him receiving this honor," head coach Greg Etter said. "He is a very deserving young man and does a great job in the classroom, weight room and football field. In each of those areas he sets very high goals for himself and he works hard to attain them. You can see the success has had from his freshman year to now, so I couldn't be more ecstatic for him to be recognized. These academic awards sign praise to Concordia University Wisconsin and the football program, and everything we stand for."
A senior from Slinger, Wisconsin, Mason is earning the honor for the first time in his career. He started and played in all 10 games this season, playing multiple positions (defensive back, kicker and punter). The multi-talented player has been named All-NACC as a kicker and punter numerous times. This season he made 49 total tackles (27 solo), punted 44 times for a 37.5 average and pinned the opposition inside the 20-yard line 19 times, while also making five field goals and 33 extra points.
Mason has a 3.74 grade-point average, with a degree in psychology.
District VI is composed of schools from Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in December.
