Mason, McDermit earn NACC weekly honors

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin's Jacob Mason and Josiah McDermit were named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Special Teams and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the league announced.

The Falcons defeated Alma, 26-15, in the NACC-MIAA Challenge Series at home.

Mason, a defensive back/placekicker/punter from Slinger, Wisconsin, made his impact felt in the punting game in Saturday's victory. The senior punted four times for an average of 47.3 yards per kick with a long of 52 yards while playing a key role in the battle for field position. 

McDermit, a defensive back from Kansasville, Wisconsin, helped the Falcons win the turnover battle during the win. The sophomore intercepted a pair of passes and finished the game with five tackles. His first interception came with the Scots driving in Falcons territory late in the first half, allowing CUW to take a 12-0 lead into the break. His second came late in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Falcons.
