Football Eats Up Eureka on Homecoming

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin football team sent the Falcon faithful home happy on Homecoming. The Falcons downed the Red Devils of Eureka, 39-0, on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Blue and White improved to 3-2 on the year and to 2-2 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

The Falcons opened the scoring on Saturday with a 39-yard field goal from sophomore Logan Navis (Cedar Grove, Wis.).

The Birds got the ball back on the next drive with an interception for sophomore Se'Korrey Thomas (Punta Gorda, Fla.).

CUW used the turnover to score a touchdown four plays later when freshman Justin Clark (Goodyear, Ariz.) found junior Jason Leonard (Tampa, Fla.) streaking down the middle and scored on the 31-yard pass.

Se'Korrey Thomas ended the next drive with his second interception of the afternoon to give the Falcons a 10-0 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter started with stellar special teams play when sophomore Luke Droegemueller (Cumming, Ga.) downed a punt a the one-foot line. That proved to be problematic for Eureka as freshman Logan Dable (Waukesha, Wis.) tackled the Eureka rusher in the end zone on the next play for a safety.

Special teams once again came into play later in the second quarter after a punt return from freshman Kam'Ron Pierre (Canyon Country, Calif.) set the Falcons up in the red zone. Pierre scored three plays later on a pass from Justin Clark from the 19-yard line.

The second quarter kept being problematic for the visitors as the Falcons recovered a fumble on the 12-yard line with Jadon Lewis. Two plays later, Justin Clark muscled his way into the end zone for a one-yard rush.

The fourth turnover of the day came when senior Justice Kaneta (Brighton, Colo.) intercepted the ball and returned it eight yards to the Concordia 45-yard line. That set up a 22-yard field goal to give the Falcons a 29-0 lead at halftime.

The second-half scoring started in the third quarter when Justin Clark connected with TJ Harrold for five yards.

The scoring ended with a 21-yard field goal from Logan Navis in the fourth quarter.

The 39 points are a season high and the shutout is the first since the victory over Benedictine in 2023.

Justin Clarks destroyed the Red Devils with 211 yards through the air for two touchdowns and nine yards on the ground and a touchdown.

The Falcons ran wild for 217 yards on Saturday with sophomore Jacob Pugh (Atlanta, Ga.) with 125 yards and sophomore Jermaine Fransaw (Houston, Texas) with 66 yards.

Jason Leonard tallied 122 yards in the air with a touchdown.

Defensively, CUW held Eureka with 61 yards of total offense and two first downs.

Sophomore Duncan Ireland III (Eagle, Wis.) led the attack with seven tackles.

The Falcons look to build upon the momentum on Saturday at Rockford.
