Thomas named Second Team All-American by ABCA

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bryan Thomas had already collected several postseason awards after an outstanding senior season for the Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball program in 2017. On Thursday night, Thomas added All-American to his resume, as he was named Second Team All-American by the ABCA.

Thomas (Lowell, Ind.) was chosen as a First Team All-Midwest Region selection earlier this week by the coaches organization, along with being named a Second Team All-Region pick by D3Baseball.com. The First Team All-NACC outfielder is now believed to be the first All-American in program history.

"Bryan had a tremendous year for us and is very deserving to be recognized as one of the best players in the country," said Falcons head coach Eddy Morgan. "He played the game the right way and his aggressiveness and intensity are what made him special. He will surely be missed but he has helped raised the bar for future Falcons and has left his mark on our program."

Thomas raked in 2017, ranking in the top 35 nationally in both batting average and RBIs during the regular season. He hit .422 and drove in 53 runs, both numbers lead the NACC. He collected 22 extra-base hits, doubling 15 times and adding four triples with three home runs. He hit safely in all but seven games this season and recorded multiple hits in 23 contests.

The senior played mostly in the outfielder, the position he was listed as on the All-American Team. He also caught for the Falcons from time to time throughout the season.

Thomas was one of two players from the NACC to be chosen as an All-American by the ABCA. Bryan VanDuser of Concordia Chicago was named to the Third Team.
