CUW Shines Bright Deep in the Heart of Texas

MARSHALL, Texas – The CUW acrobatics & tumbling team closed its spring break road trip through Texas with a victory on Friday night. The Falcons tamed the Tigers of East Texas Baptist with a 243.105 – 227.905 victory.  The Falcons soar to 3-1 on the year with the win.

The Blue and White came out blazing on Friday and took an early lead in the compulsory event with 35.45 points. The birds notched season-high scores in three events including a .975 in the pyramid heat to tie the school record.

CUW added onto the lead in the acro event with 26.85 points, tying the season-high score. CUW had 9.30 points in the five-element heat with the team of freshman Alexis Pfeifle (Macomb, Mich.), sophomore Amanda Owens (Stevens Point, Wis.), sophomore Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore Erin Wagner (Waukesha, Wis.).

The Tigers took a bite out of the lead when CUW scored 26.90 points in the pyramid heat.

CUW regained some ground with 25.65 points in the toss event.

The Tigers tightened the contest in the tumbling event when CUW landed 44.375 points. Junior Jessi Alexander (Plainfield, Ill.) and senior Kara Skevis (Lockport, Ill.) scored 7.050 points in the duo pass and Alexander earned 7.625 points in the six-element pass.

The Falcons secured the victory with 83.88 points in the team event.

CUW closes the home portion of the calendar on March 26 against Adrian.
