Falcons Trample Trine in Season Opener

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW acrobatics & tumbling team opened the 2022 campaign on Saturday afternoon inside of the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse. The Falcons topped Trine with a 232.795 – 223.160 victory to open the season and broke two records in the process. 

"We are excited to get this first meet under our belt as we start the 2022 season," said head coach Sarah Koenig. " This allowed us to note some areas where we need to focus on, but overall it was a good start and a solid foundation that we look forward to building off of."

The Blue and White took an early lead on the afternoon with 31.15 points in the compulsory event. CUW secured 9.35 points in the pyramid heat and 9.60 points in the toss heat.

Concordia added to the lead in the acro event with 23.40 points. Heat two with sophomore Dakoda Spaeth (West Bend, Wis.), junior Jessi Alexander (Plainfield, Ill.) and junior Amy Eberth (Basehor, Kan.) saw CUW score 8.65 points.

The Falcons scored nine or more points in all three pyramids on Saturday. CUW reached 9.50 points in the open pyramid.

CUW continued to push the lead up with 25.20 in the toss event. The best score came in heat one with a school record of 9.10 points.

The tumbling event secured 43.975 points to the scoreboard for the Falcons on Saturday afternoon. The high-water mark came in the open pass with sophomore Paityn Taormina (Geneva, Ill.) at 8.575 points. CUW also broke the school record in the quad pass at 7.900 points with Paityn Taormina, freshman Alexis Pfeifle (Macomb, Mich.), freshman Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.) and sophomore Erin Wagner (Waukesha, Wis.).

The Falcons outscored Trine in all six events on Saturday, capping it off with 80.92 points in the team event.
