Falcons Boop the Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. –The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics & tumbling team tamed the Bulldogs of Adrian College on Sunday afternoon to remain unbeaten on the season. The Falcons picked up a 232.425 to 227.675 victory to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Concordia Wisconsin posted season-high scores in 12 heats and three events on Sunday.

The Falcons took an early lead with a season-high 34.05 points in the compulsory event. The Blue and White secured season-high scored in the acro heat at 7.80, the pyramid heat at 9.70 and the tumbling heat at 7.00.

The Bulldogs bit into the CUW lead in the acro event, where CUW secured a season-high score of 24.85 points on Sunday. The team of freshman Alexis Pfeifle (Macomb, Mich.), sophomore Amanda Owens (Stevens Point, Wis.), sophomore Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore Erin Wagner (Waukesha, Wis.) earned 8.15 points in the five-element heat. In the seven-element heat, the squad of sophomore Paityn Taormina (Geneva, Ill.), freshman Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.), sophomore Morgan Schnulle (Janesville, Wis.), senior Kara Skevis (Lockport, Ill.) and sophomore April Johnston (Spokane, Wash.) secured a score of 9.35 points.

The birds added onto the lead in the pyramid event. CUW posted a season-best performance of 9.60 points in the open pyramid with Paityn Taormina, Morgan Schnulle, Kara Skevis, Eliana Schmit and Erin Wagner.

CUW tied their score from Trine in the toss with 25.20 points to create more separation from Adrian. Concordia scored 8.05 points in the synchronized heat and 9.55 points for season-best scores.

The Falcons distanced themselves further from the Black and Yellow in the tumbling event with 43.575 points. Junior Jessi Alexander (Plainfield, Ill.) and Kara Skevis recorded a season-high score in the dup pass with 7.050 points. In the trio pass, sophomore Dakoda Spaeth (West Bend, Wis.), Amanda Owens and freshman Madisen Arendt (Waukesha, Wis.) reached 6.000 points for the best mark of the season. The quad pass tied their school-record performance that they set last week at 7.900 points with Paityn Taormina, Alexis Pfeifle, Ellen Marie Sanders and Erin Wagner. Jessi Alexander tied the season high score of 7.550 points in the six-element pass.

The Blue and White bounced the Bulldogs away in the team events with 76.92 points

The Falcons will saddle up and head south to Texas to take on Mary Hardin Baylor on March 14.
