Acrobatics & Tumbling wraps up a youthful 2020 season

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW acrobatics & tumbling team wrapped up the 2020 season earlier in March. The Falcons were a youthful team with 14 underclassmen, including six freshmen. The season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Falcons finished the 2020 season with a 2-2 record and a perfect 2-0 record at home. The Falcons were scheduled to compete in six meets this year.

The Blue and White opened the home schedule with a victory over Georgetown College.

At David & Elkins, the Falcons posted season-best scores in 19 of the 20 heats. The Falcons broke the school record in acro heat No. 3 with the team of sophomore Madalynn Visser (Belvidere, Ill.), junior Katelyn Mirasola (Sussex, Wis.), sophomore Samantha Hoolerbek (Belvidere, Ill.) and sophomore Alyssa Schnulle (Janesville, Wis.) notched a score of 9.55 points.

CUW closed the year with a season-high score of 242.625 points against East Texas Baptist. CUW had season-high scores in five of the six events and in 15 events. The Falcons posted the fifth-highest tumbling score in program history at 46.025 points.

On the year, CUW scored nine points or more in eight heats. The Blue and White did so twice in the compulsory toss, pyramid heat one and pyramid heat three. The highest score of the year came in pyramid heat three against East Texas Baptist. The team of sophomore Abby Bodoh (West Bend, Wis.), sophomore Kara Skevis (Lockport, Ill.), Samantha Hoolerbek and junior Madison Schultz (Janesville, Wis.) scored 9.85 points.

The Falcons will look to soar again in the 2021 season.
