Women's Volleyball picked to repeat as NACC champions

Concordia Wisconsin's Women's Volleyball program were voted to repeat as Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference champions, according to the league's preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.

The Falcons finished last year with a perfect 11-0 record in league play (23-8 overall) and received a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history after winning their first NACC Tournament title during their 2016 campaign.

CUW received 20-of-24 first-place votes and 284 points in the preseason poll. Aurora was second with 262 points and four first-place votes, while Edgewood was third with 234. Dominican was fourth with 206 points. Lakeland fifth with 190, while Benedictine was sixth with 188. Wisconsin Lutheran followed in seventh with 135 points, MSOE eighth with 103 and Concordia Chicago ninth with 98. Marian (97), Alverno (43) and Rockford (32) rounded out the final three spots in the poll.

Concordia Wisconsin starts its season with a non-conference matchup on Friday, September 1 against Concordia Ann Arbor. The Falcons will then open up conference play on Wednesday, September 13 against Lakeland.

The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the conference tournament, while the tourney champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
