Falcons Level Lakeland

MEQUON, Wis. – The wind and the rain could not slow down the Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team on Tuesday evening. The Falcons reeled in the Muskies with a convincing 9-0 victory. The victory keeps Concordia Wisconsin atop the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) at 7-0 and 8-0 overall. Lakeland moved to 3-2 in the year and 2-2 in the NACC.

Junior Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) and freshman Sofia Buhr (Blumenau, Brazil) were the first duo done in doubles play on Tuesday with an 8-0 victory over Sydnee Conway and Baylee Babcock at No. 3 doubles.

The sensational senior duo of Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) squished the fish at No. 1 doubles, 8-0.

Senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and senior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) soared at No. 2 doubles with an 8-1 victory.

Sophia Buhr secured a speedy 6-0, 6-0 victory over Baylee Babcock at No. 3 singles.

Mallory Moen mopped up Sadie Conway at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 5 singles, Mia Andrae axed Mary Johnson with a 6-0, 6-1 decision.

Ricki Budewitz remained unblemished with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Olivia Heling at No. 1 singles.

Ashley Samuta silenced Kassidee Webb at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Junior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) closed the day with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Clare Kelnhofer at No. 6 singles.

The Falcons will next compete this weekend at the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Blue and White return to match play on Tuesday against MSOE. Concordia can clinch a share of the NACC title and the top seed in the NACC Tournament with a victory.
