Ashley Samuta Snags the NACC Weekly Honor

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its weekly student-athlete of the week awards on Wednesday morning. Ashley Samuta was voted as the NACC Student-Athlete of the Week for women's tennis by the league's athletic communications professionals.

A senior from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Ashley Samuta is claiming the honor for the first time this year and the fourth time in her career.

Samuta went 3-0 at No. 2 singles on the week with 6-0, 6-0 victories over Concordia Chicago and Alverno and a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (5) win over Edgewood. The victory over Edgewood was the deciding point in a 5-4 win over the Eagles and put the Falcons in the driver's seat for the NACC title. She also posted a 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with Ricki Budewitz, winning 8-1 against CUC, 8-3 against Edgewood and 8-0 over Alverno.

She is the second Falcon to claim the honor this year. 

Samuta and the Falcons return to action on Friday at the ITA Midwest Regionals.
