Budewitz Breaks NACC Victories Record

ORLANDO, Fla. -  The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team opened its spring break trip on Tuesday morning with an 8-1 victory over Concordia College Moorhead and a 9-0 victory over Albion College. The victory sends the Falcons 12-2 on the season.

In the Concordia Moorhead match senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) broke the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) record for career victories in combined singles and doubles play.

Doubles play opened with senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and senior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) making quick work on the court against Raquel Egge and Mary Skorich with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.

The team of senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and junior Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) soared past Lizzie Allan and Bell Hamre with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Freshmen Sofia Buhr (Blumenau, Brazil) and senior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) secured an 8-4 victory over Erin Borchard and Anna Hacker at No. 2 doubles to round out doubles play.

Sofia Buhr brought out the brooms to start singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Anna Hacker at No 3 singles.

At No. 2 singles, Ashley Samuta sprinted past Mary Skorich with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Ricki Budewitz cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Raquel Egge at No. 1 singles.

The lone win for Concordia Moorhead of the day came at No. 5 singles.

Mallory Moen brought in a win over Erin Borchard with a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles.

Rounding out the singles, junior Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill) went into a third-set tiebreaker to win at No. 6 singles.

The Falcons started the Albion match with a sweep in the No. 1 doubles. The team of Ricki Budewitz and Ashley Samuta secured the 8-0 victory over Josie Dunn and Rosy Zuun.

At No. 2 doubles, Sofia Buhr and Mallory Moen flew past Keiley Black and Savannah McDonald with an 8-2 victory.

Closing out doubles, Mia Andrae and Mya Werning claimed an 8-2 victory over Abbie Hubbard and Emma Madden at No. 3 doubles.

Three Falcons brought out the brooms in singles, Ricki Budewitz, Ashley Samuta, and Mia Andrae to bring home a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No.1, No. 2, and No. 5 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Sofia Buhr brought home a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Keiley Black.

Mallory Moen crushed Abbie Hubbard with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.

Peyton Morgan finished the successful day for the Falcons with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Molly Dunn at No. 6 singles.

The Falcons return Wednesday afternoon as they continue their spring break matches against Allegheny College.
