RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Senior Abigail Freeland and sophomore Kayla Schlosser scored and the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer played outstanding defensively in a 2-0 NACC road win at Dominican Saturday. The Falcons win was their second straight and moved them to .500 in conference play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freeland (Grafton, Wis.) showed why she is dangerous in free kick situations with a score from 19 yards out in the 12th minute. The goal was the third of the season for the Falcons defender, a new season-best mark.
- The Falcons held the 1-0 lead through the first half, holding a slight 7-6 edge in shots in the opening 45 minutes.
- CUW came out firing shots in the second half and posted a 13-5 advantage during that stretch. Schlosser (Germantown, Wis.) gave the Falcons the insurance goal they needed in 76th minute. It was Freeland setting up the play with a perfect corner kick where Schlosser was there for the header for her second goal of 2016.
- Senior Ariana Worthing (Saginaw, Mich.) made three second-half saves for the Falcons for her first shutout of the season. Her counterpart, Pamela Ruiz, stopped nine shots, six of those coming in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Freeland entered the year with 14 career points and she already has eight this season, very impressive for a defender. The eight points ties a season-best as she scored two goals and had four assists during her sophomore campaign.
- The win was also a big one for the Falcons over a team ahead of them in the NACC standings. CUW sits in a tie for sixth in league play with three conference matches remaining. The top six teams make the NACC Tournament.
UP NEXT
- The Falcons will play three times at home next week, beginning with a contest against Marian on Wednesday. CUW and the Sabres are set for a 4 p.m. start at Fitting Field.
