Women's Soccer suffers overtime loss against MSOE

MEQUON, Wis. – At some point this season the fortunes will turn in the favor of the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team. Unfortunately for the Falcons, Saturday wasn't the day. The Falcons dropped another one goal match, the sixth one of the season, falling 2-1 in overtime against MSOE.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: MSOE 2, Concordia Wisconsin 1 (F/OT)
- Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wis.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 1-6-0, 1-1-0 NACC; MSOE 5-2-0, 2-0-0 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Caitlin Liddiard of the Raiders provided the game-winner just 1:22 into overtime. Liddiard took a pass form Melina Lynn and scored her second-goal of the contest.

- Both teams struck in the first half, with CUW going on the board first in the 13th minute. Sophomore Kayla Schlosser (Germantown, Wis.) took a pass from senior Faith Palmreuter (Frankenmuth, Mich.) and lobbed one in for her first goal of the season.

- Liddiard would tie the match in the 25th minute on a strike from 25 yards out. The goals were the second and third of the season for the MSOE player.

- The second half saw the Falcons control possession for the most part, but neither team could get on the scoreboard. Shots were hard to come by Saturday, with CUW holding a 13-7 edge. Both teams did a good job of eliminating corner kick opportunities as well, with the Falcons getting two such looks and MSOE having none.

- Senior Ariana Worthing (Saginaw, Mich.) made three saves for the Falcons. Mary McFee finished with six saves for MSOE.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Not only has CUW dropped six one-goal matches, but it has done so against quality competition early in the season. The Raiders were the fourth team the Falcons have played who are currently regionally ranked, while CUW also takes on another regionally ranked squad tomorrow.

- The loss snaps a 15-match NACC regular season winning streak for CUW. The Falcons last loss in conference play was October 14, 2014 at Marian. The Falcons last home loss in NACC play came three days earlier, a 2-1 setback against Aurora.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will take on another tough opponent tomorrow when they welcome in UW-La Crosse to Fitting Field. The match between CUW and the Eagles is set for a 3 p.m. start.
