CUW soccer women meet Edgewood in another NAC showdown

MEQUON, Wis.-  Concordia Wisconsin faces another major challenge when the Falcon women's soccer squad travels to Madison this evening to take on Edgewood College in a battle for second place in the NAC behind Nationally Ranked Aurora.

CUW heads to the state capital with a 6-1-0 conference mark while the Eagles are right behind at 5-1-0.  Both teams have been dealt their only conference defeat by powerful Aurora.

Elaine Gerry is the star for Edgewood offensively.  She leads the conference with 15 goals and has added six assists for 36 total points.

"We need to shut down their attack.  Santaga, their best midfielder, is also really good and she and Gerry are a formidable combination," stressed CUW coach Ryan Middendorf.   "Our defensive back four have been solid and they will need to have another solid group effort".

CUW boasts three of the NAC's top five offensive performers. Freshman Brittany Klumpp (Rubicon, Wis.) and senior Lauren Straehler (Pewaukee, Wis.) each have 11 goals to their credit.  Klumpp has 25 total points and Straehler 23.  Another Concordia freshman, Carley Pfannerstill (Grafton, Wis.) has seven goals and as many assists for 21 total points.

"We will pressure their backs heavily and I expect an up-tempo game with plenty of offense. Organization on offense is key for us,"  finalized Middendorf.  "We need to work together."
