Women's Hockey Sweeps Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. – The Falcons brought out the brooms for the first time this season. The Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey program picked up a 4-3 victory at Lawrence to improve to 3-5-0 in the year and to 3-3-0 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.

Junior Savannah Hutchins (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) started the scoring with a blast from the near circle off passes from freshman Ava Litkey (Kenosha, Wis.) and junior Brooke Gibson (LaSalle, Ont.).

The Vikings then tied the game eight minutes later.

The Falcons struck in the first minute of the second period on the power play with a goal from sophomore Makayla Spejcher (Green Bay, Wis.) off touches from junior Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) and sophomore Charlotte Toor (Hartland, Mich.).

At the 8:30 mark of the period, Brooke Gibson lit the lamp off an assist from freshman Ella Tuccitto (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.).

Junior Amanda Bauer (Waunakee, Wis.) scored a sneaky sharp-angled goal to push the lead up to 4-1 late in the second period.

Junior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) claimed her first victory of the season with 21 saves.

The Falcons held a 27-24 advantage in shots on Saturday. The Falcons were led by freshman Mackaylan McGown (Inver Grove, Minn.) and Makayla Spejcher with five shots each.
