Van Hercke Breaks a Program Record

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's hockey team finished their weekend series with the College of St. Benedict Bennies on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons picked up their first loss of the season with a 1-0 defeat.

Both teams were held scoreless in the first period.

The Bennies snagged the advantage in the second period on a power-play goal.

The Red and White kept the Falcons on their toes all night with CUW heading to the penalty box on six different occasions.

St. Benedict peppered the CUW net with 62 shots on the net. Senior Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) collected 61 saves in her 58:24 on the ice to break the program record of saves in a game that had stood since 2007 at 57.

The Falcons head to Trine for a weekend away from home on Friday and Saturday.
