Women’s Hockey skates to scoreless draw

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's hockey team skated to a scoreless tie on Saturday with Marian. The tie send CUW to 2-5-1 on the year.

The Falcons had no shortage of shots on Saturday with 46 shots.

The Blue and White rang two shots off the post against the Sabres.

Junior Madi Chapman (Rogers, Minn.) led the Falcons with seven shots.

The Blue and White controlled a majority of the possession, after winning 41 of the 57 faceoffs. Senior Natasha Wanless (Madison, Wis.) led all players with 17 faceoff victories.

Senior Breanna Thomson (St. Mary's, Ont.) posted 25 saves in the shutout. The first CUW shut out since Feb. 9 at Finlandia.

The CUW penalty kill was successful on all five penalties.

The 0-0 tie was the first for the Falcons since December 2017 against Northland.

The Falcons will not return to action until 2020, when they host St. Benedict on Jan. 3.
