MEQUON, Wis. – Friday night saw the CUW men's volleyball open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play with a convincing 3-0 victory over the Green Knights of St. Norbert College with scores 25-15, 25-16, and 25-19.

With the victory, the Falcons move to 4-5 on the season overall.

The first frame set the tone for the rest of the match as CUW took it 25-15 and, as a team, recorded an attacking percentage of .520 on 14 kills.

CUW started that first set by taking a quick 8-4 lead, which included three service aces from senior Spencer Herman (Kimberly, Wis.) and a kill from junior Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.).

The Blue and White would continue their excellent play in the first set and put together a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 11, 19-8, as sophomore Will Wood (Savage, Minn.) recorded a kill.

Back-to-back kills from Spencer Herman inched the Falcons closer to the 25-point summit.

Sophomore Tate Miller (Anthem, Ariz.) would put away the set with his swing to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead.

In the second set, the Falcons quickly went on a 4-0, which featured kills by Logan Kebisek, Spencer Herman, and senior Andy Ellingham (Burlington, Wis.) to enjoy a 10-5 lead.

Junior Lucas Beres (Germantown, Wis.) then ignited a 3-0 run for the Falcons, further extending their lead.

With the score favoring Concordia 17-13, the Falcons countered a short Green Knights run, scoring three-straight, which included kills from Herman, Kebisek, and Wood to secure the 20-13 advantage.

In the following points, Tate Miller recorded a kill, and the duo of Logan Kebisek and Lucas Beres assisted on a block to give CUW the 22-14 lead.

A kill from Beres and a pair of St. Norbert errors would clinch the second set for CUW, 25-16, as they enjoyed the 2-0 lead.

Determined to steal a set, the Green Knights kept the third set close, as neither team could build a significant lead, as the Falcons led 11-10.

However, the Falcons would score back-to-back points on three occasions, resulting in an 18-14 lead.

In the subsequent points, the Falcons would add two to their total, coming off service errors from St. Norbert, to put the score at 20-15.

A kill from Tate Miller and a trio of kills from Spencer Herman put the Falcons at match point.

Sophomore Chase Ammons (Elm Grove, Wis.) made an athletic play near the net to put the game away at 25-19 to secure the 3-0 victory for CUW.

In the victory, the Falcons totaled a .361 hitting percentage, as Spencer Herman led the Falcons with a game-high 14 kills, hitting .401 on the night.

Lucas Beres also had double-digit kills, notching 11 on a whopping .625 hitting percentage while recording four block assists.

Logan Kebisek once again led the flock in assists, totaling 36.

Meanwhile, Parker Pearson had a season-high 13 digs in the effort.
