ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – In their second weekend match, the CUW men's volleyball fell to the Vikings of Augustana College in three sets.

The initial set was a closely contested battle, with CUW holding a 10-9 advantage after a service ace from junior Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.).

But the Vikings would jump to a 20-13 advantage as the set continued.

However, the Falcons displayed resilience, narrowing the deficit to three points as senior Andy Ellingham (Burlington, Wis.) had two service aces and a kill to bring the score to 22-19.

Despite the effort, Augustana secured the first set with a score of 25-22.

The opening points of the second frame saw another close contest, as Concordia trailed by one after a kill by senior Spencer Herman (Kimberly, Wis.) on a setup from Logan Kebisek.

Eventually, CUW would knot the score at 13 apiece, as sophomore Will Wood (Savage, Minn.) contributed a service ace.

A few points later, the Blue and White took their first lead of the set, 16-15, after an error from Augustana. However, the Vikings orchestrated a comeback, igniting a 5-0 run to clinch the set, 25-21.

In the third set, the Vikings jumped to an early five-point advantage. Later in the set, Augustana extended their lead to double-digits, eventually taking the third set 25-13.

In the effort, Spencer Herman became the first CUW men's volleyball player to reach the 1,000-point milestone, leading the Falcons with seven kills.

Behind Herman was junior Lucas Beres (Germantown, Wis.), and sophomore Will Wood who both added four kills.
