Men's Tennis picked second in NACC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Following a program-record 18-win campaign in 2016, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Tennis program will have high expectations heading into 2017. The Falcons were tabbed for a second-place finish in the NACC Preseason Poll, voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directions.

CUW picked up six first-place votes and 148 poll points, coming in just behind Edgewood, who was predicted to win a third-straight NACC title. The Eagles gained the other 12 first-place votes and totaled 154 poll points.

Five of the last six regular season titles have been won by either Concordia Wisconsin or Edgewood. The Falcons won three straight from 2011-2013, while Edgewood won the last two after an MSOE title in 2014.

MSOE was next in the preseason poll with 128 points, followed by Wisconsin Lutheran (105). Aurora (85) and Dominican (78) were predicted as the other two teams in the top six. The top six teams from the NACC regular season will qualify for a six-team conference tournament at the end of the year.

Marian (49) was slotted seventh with Concordia Chicago (43) and Lakeland (20) rounding out the poll.

The Falcons, who played once in the fall, will resume their season on February 3 with a home match against Ripon. CUW begins conference play on April 8 with matches against Dominican and Concordia Chicago.
