Marian escapes with a victory

MEQUON, Wis. – The Sabres of Marian used three third-period goals to take home a road victory The Falcons fell 4-1 on Saturday to move to 11-8-2 and to 7-7-2 in the NCHA.

Defense reigned supreme in the first period with sophomore Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) and Hunter Vorva making some key saves.

The Sabres struck first in the second period at the 5:34 mark.

11 seconds later, freshman Brandon Picard (Montreal, Que.) put away a beautiful pass from junior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.). Sophomore Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) was also credited with an assist.

Ty Enns broke the tie for the Sabres and the Black and Blue added two insurance goals, including an empty-net goal.

Bo Didur finished with 38 saves on the night.

The Sabres outshot the Falcons 42-37, Braydon Barker and Luc Kreuser led CUW with four shots.

The Falcons will play again on Friday against Adrian.
