Falcons tie first-place Spartans

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons bounced back from a Friday loss to tie the first-place Spartans on Saturday. The Falcons rallied for a 3-3 tie to move to 3-2-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in the NCHA.

Despite being outshot in the first period, 21-3. The Falcons lit the lamp with a shot from junior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.). Senior Jim Pearson (Ashton, Ont.) and junior Cole Pickup (Victoria, B.C.) notched the CUW assists.

The Spartans closed the first period with a power-play goal with eight seconds remaining.

Sophomore Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) finished the first period with 20 saves.

Aurora added two more goals in the first four minutes of the second period.

The Falcons did not fold and senior Dante Hahn (Victoria, B.C.) scored at the 18:11 mark of the second period off passes from junior Nick Guiney (Victoria, B.C.) and junior Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.).

Nick Guiney leveled the game in the third period, with Nick Guerra and sophomore Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.) adding the assists.

The CUW defense held true the rest of the way. Bo Didur finished with 49 saves.

The Falcons return to action on Friday at Bethel in Minnesota.
