Tommies top Men’s Hockey

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons fell to 1-1-0 on the year with an 8-3 loss to the Tommies of St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon.

The Purple and White struck first on Saturday with two goals in the first seven minutes.

Freshman Brandon Picard (Montreal, Que.) scored his first collegiate goal off a pass from freshman Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.). His goal made stuffed animals fly on to the ice for the Teddy Bear Toss with the stuffed animals going to local children.

Two minutes later, senior Jake Switzer (Swansea, Ill.) leveled the game at two off a pass from junior Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alta.).

A power-play goal from junior Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.) snapped a 3-0 St. Thomas run.

The Tommies added two more goals in the third period.

Sophomore Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) had 23 saves in the loss, while junior Dakota Delbridge (Tracy, Calif.) posted 20 saves in relief.

St. Thomas outshot CUW on Saturday, 43-33. Junior Cole Pickup (Victoria, B.C.) led CUW with seven shots.

The Blue and White look to bounce back on Friday as they open NCHA play at St. Scholastica.
