Collins announces retirement from CUW Football staff

MEQUON, Wis. – Keith Collins, an ambassador of Concordia Wisconsin Football, has announced his retirement after 33 years of coaching along the sidelines.

"I have been blessed to coach hundreds of men during my time at CUW," Collins said. "The relationships I have formed during my time have been special; especially with the players, coaches, administration and staff. I have accomplished everything I set out to as a coach and now it is time to focus on my family and retirement."

Collins began coaching at CUW in 1984 and has been a part of 204 victories, countless championships and most importantly helping the youth grow into men. During his time an incalculable number of players earned all-conference and All-America honors.

"Keith has a passion for CUW, the football program and for all the players he has coached throughout his 33-year career," head coach Greg Etter stated. "I don't know if we will ever completely understand how much of a positive impact Keith "Coach" Collins has had on not only our program but also, more importantly, the individual lives he has impacted throughout his career. I am grateful for his hard work, loyalty and friendship. I wish he and his family the very best as he begins a new chapter of his life."

The Falcon assistant coached multiple positions throughout his career and helped three head coaches during his tenure. Despite stepping away from his coaching duties, Collins will still be involved with football relations and the annual golf outing.

"A football coach should never have to worry about the wins and losses, but how they influence the lives of their players," Collins expressed.

A former member of the Armed Services he always had a quote by Ronald Regan close to his heart and used it when coaching. 'Some people wonder all their lives if they've made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.'
