Damaschke finishes as NCAA Division III total yards per game champion

Mequon, Wis. --  Quarterback Austin Damaschke finished the 2014 season as the NCAA Division III statistical champion for total offense per game. Damaschke led the Falcons' offense to new heights this season, while setting multiple records.

Damaschke (Bristol, Wis.) led the nation with 378.3 total offensive yards per game. The senior threw for 400 or more yards in four games this past season, including a program record 490 yards in an October 18 win at Trine. In that game, Damschke also set school records for pass attempts (73) and completions (41). In the teams October 11 win at Aurora, Damschke set a program record for total offense in a single game, when he tallied 606 total yards. The gunslinger passed for 2,835 yards and 20 touchdowns, while rushing for 570 yards and 7 touchdowns.

CUW finished 20th nationally in total offense with a 475.5 yards per game average. The Falcons recorded over 400 total yards six times this season and surpassed 600 yards in three games. This included a program record 792 yards in the October 11 win at Aurora.

Damaschke also finished eighth nationally in passing yards per game (315.0) and fifth in completions per game (26.44). In addition, wide receiver Garrett Wenzelburger (senior, Hartland, Wis.) finished sixth nationally in receiving yards per game (126.3). On the defensive side, corner back Aaron Krapfl (junior, Anamosa, Iowa) finished fifth nationally in passes defended per game (1.9) and defensive lineman Austin Kaatz (senior, Pewaukee, Wis.) finished third in fumbles recovered (3).
