Gonzalez, Wenzelburger collect NACC Football Weekly Awards

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin seniors David Gonzalez and Garrett Wenzelburger have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Wenzelburger (Hartland, Wis.) rewrote more than one record in the Falcons non-conference loss against Augsburg. The senior became both the NACC and CUW career receptions leader after hauling in 13 passes for 239 yards. He now has 206 career receptions.

The senior wide receiver scored three times against the Auggies, which tied a career high. His 239 yards were the most in CUW history as he scored from 60, 25 and 24 yards out.

Gonzalez (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) had another strong performance in scoring nine points in the Falcons 55-45 setback against Augsburg. He connected on all six of his point after attempts and added a 32-yard field goal early in the third quarter.

The NACC's all-time leading scorer for kickers has now collected five conference weekly awards. All of his honors have come over the past two seasons and he has more weekly awards than any other NACC player since the start of 2013.

Gonzalez, Wenzelburger and the rest of the Falcons will return to the field Saturday in hosting Albion College at Tomasini Stadium. The game is a part of the MIAA-NACC Challenge Series pitting seven schools from each conference against one another. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
