Gonzalez named NACC Special Teams Player of the Week after game-winner

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Senior kicker David Gonzalez has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the Falcons 31-28, season-opening win over North Park.

Gonzalez (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) kicked a 25-yard game-winning field goal with 40 seconds remaining to lift the Falcons to a 1-0 start. He finished the game with seven points, connecting on all four of his point after attempts in addition to the field goal.

He is no stranger to winning the NACC weekly award, winning three times last season. The three awards in 2013 tied his teammate Austin Damaschke for most in the conference as the Falcons posted a perfect NACC record last fall.

Gonzalez entered the year as the conference's all-time leading scorer for kickers and ranks fourth all-time for all players in points scored. He now has 183 career points.

Gonzalez and the Falcons will return to the field Saturday when they host Augsburg in the 2014 home opener. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Tomasini Stadium.
