Falcons Sweep the Scarlet Hawks

MEQUON, Wis. – It was all Falcons on Saturday afternoon as the Concordia Wisconsin women's volleyball team improved to 8-9 on the year with a 3-0 victory over Illinois Tech. The Falcons improved to 3-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with the 25-18, 25-15, 25-17 victory.

The Falcons claimed an early 9-3 lead in the first set to start Saturday afternoon. IIT continued to chip away at the lead and cut the Concordia lead to 15-13. The Falcons won the next five points behind the serve of junior Noelle Smith (Davenport, Iowa). The Blue and White claimed the set after a pair of attack errors at 25-18.

Illinois Tech held an early 2-0 lead in the second set on Saturday. The Falcons quickly flipped the script and elevated the lead to 12-5. The Falcons never looked back and pushed the lead to 19-8 with a kill from sophomore Skylar Kumprey (New Berlin, Wis.) before taking the set at 25-15.

Concordia led wire-to-wire in the third set and took the lead to 14-3 with a kill from junior Paige Stickney (Menomonee Falls, Wis.). The Scarlet Hawks scratched back and cut the Concordia lead to 14-10, but that was the closest they could get. A kill from Paige Stickney ended the match at 25-17.

Paige Stickney led the match with nine kills and hit. 500 on Saturday.

Noelle Smith stuffed the stat sheet with four service aces and seven blocks.

Freshman McKenna Oetzman (Reedsburg, Wis.) led the flock with 14 assists in the victory and junior Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.) had 13 digs.

The Falcons look to build their winning streak on Thursday against Alverno.
