Falcons open season at Silver Lake Triathlon

PORTAGE, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Triathlon team opened its 2017 season at the Silver Lake Triathlon Saturday. The Falcons had a strong start to the season with six competing in the sprint distance. Samantha Hoyt paced the Falcons with a seventh-place finish among females in the event, which included finishing in second place in her age group.

THE BASICS

- Falcons Competing: Hoyt (1:25.59); Mary Karsten (1:26.17); Anne Karsten (1:28.17); Danielle Morgan (1:28.22); Alicia Hook (1:29.00); Meghan Klement (1:38.2)

RESULTS
- Hoyt (Sheboygan, Wis.) paced the team by posting a time of 1:25.59. She was seventh among females in the sprint distance and second among those in the 20-29 age group. Hoyt completed the swim in 8:35, the bike portion in 50:42, and the run in 25:01.

- Mary and Anne Karsten (Waupon, Wis.) were next in line for the Falcons, completing the race in 1:26.17 and 1:28.17, respectively. Mary was eighth among females and third in the age group, while Anne finished 10th overall, and fourth in the 20-29 age bracket.

- Morgan (Butternut, Wis.) came in just five seconds behind Anne Karsten, completing the race in a time of 1:28.22. Hook (Lake Villa, Ill.) posted a time of 1:29, while Klement (Muskego, Wis.) posted a 1:38.2.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons are next scheduled to compete at the Central Regional Qualifier in Naperville, Ill. The event is set for Monday, September 4.
