Women's Lacrosse falls to Augustana

MEQUON, Wis. -- Augustana scored four unanswered goals later in the first half and Concordia Wisconsin wouldn't recover during an 11-8 non-conference decision on Saturday afternoon at Fitting Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons scored back-to-back goals less than four minutes of each other to go ahead 2-1 midway through the opening half. The Vikings answered with four-consecutive goals to lead 5-2 and never relinquished the lead. In all, those four goals along with three to start the second halfway part of a 7-1 scoring run that lasted 22 minutes.
- Concordia Wisconsin was down five goals with 20 minutes and five seconds to play in the game and responded with a pair of Megan McPike goals, the second being of the free-position variety, but then traded markers with Augustana the rest of the way.
- McPike (sophomore, Mequon, Wis.) led the Falcons with four goals, eight ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers. Senior Jenny Quinn (Elmhurst, Ill.) had a pair of scores, while junior Callie Neumann (Dousman, Wis.) had four ground balls and three caused turnovers and sophomore Karlee McCanna (Franklin, Wis.) recorded three ground balls had three caused turnovers.
- Sophomore Kinsey Weyer (Stillwater, Minn.) made nine saves in goal during a complete game.
- Augustana was led by Kathryn Hettiger who had five goals and Margaret Cecilio won 10 draw controls. Courtney Veitch made 14 saves in a winning effort.
- The Falcons were whistled often for 36 fouls throughout the game and as a result, the Vikings had 14 free-position attempts, scoring five times. The hosts also had a 14-7 advantage in caused turnovers and a 26-18 lead in ground balls.

- Concordia Wisconsin finishes a three-game homestand to begin the season on Wednesday at 4 pm against Aurora in MWLC action at Fitting Field.
