Falcons can't claim season-opening victory

MEQUON, Wis. -- It was a tight MWLC game until Beloit went on a 4-1 scoring run over the final 20 minutes of the game to earn an 11-8 victory over Concordia Wisconsin on Thursday at Fitting Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was back and forth for the majority of the contest with seven scoring ties and eight lead changes until the Buccaneers scored back-to-back goals on two different occasions over the final 20 minutes of the game to pull away.
- Concordia Wisconsin scored the opening goal of the game and led 3-2 with six-plus minutes to play before halftime, but just couldn't get enough momentum built up to hold a lead the remainder of the game. The Falcons offense was firing from all angles and held a 41-26 advantage in shots and 25-20 different in shots on goal.
- Sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) had a team-high four goals, to go along with a game-best eight draw controls. Senior Jenny Quinn (Elmhurst, Ill.) recorded a hat trick of her own, while sophomore Kat Oryszczyn (Mukwonago, Wis.) found the back of the net once. Senior Sam Dunn (Hartland, Wis.) and sophomore Karlee McCanna (Franklin, Wis.) each had three caused turnovers. Sophomore Kinsey Weyer (Stillwater, Minn.) made nine saves in goal.
- Beloit was led by Kieran Rodning and Nicole Dolcimascolo who had had four goals apiece.
