Bio

Cody McSorley joins the Concordia University Wisconsin Track & Field program for the 2019-2020 season. A USATF Level 1 Certified Coach, he will focus on coaching the pole vault and javelin for the Falcons. In addition to coaching these events, he serves on campus as the Academic Support Specialist within the Academic Resource Center.

Before coming to CUW, McSorley most recently served as an assistant cross country and track & field coach at Buena Vista University (Storm Lake, Iowa), where he oversaw training and coaching for the horizontal and vertical jump events. While at Buena Vista University, he helped break a 20-year-old record in the Men's Indoor Triple Jump.

Prior to Buena Vista University, he served as a graduate assistant at Concordia University Ann Arbor (CUAA). During his tenure there, he worked with sprinters and mid-distance runners, in addition to all training plans for both pole vaulters and javelin throwers. In his two years at CUAA, he helped break a 50-year old Men’s Indoor Pole Vault record multiple times with separate pole vaulters, in addition to help set the #2 Men's Outdoor Pole Vault mark. Lastly, he coached NAIA All-American, Joe Duff, to a 6th place finish at the 2018 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the Men's Javelin, with a throw of 62.11m, a total of 15.35m.

McSorley graduated from Concordia University Ann Arbor with a MS in Student Personal Administration in Higher Education in 2018 while also completing an internship for the Student-Athlete Academic Liaison. In 2015, he graduated from Aurora University with a BS in Mathematics, where he competed collegiately for the Spartans. As a track & field athlete for the Spartans from 2011-2015, McSorley was an eight-time All-Conference performer and two-year team captain.
