Men's Basketball falls short in NACC road matchup at Benedictine

Lisle, Ill. – In a close NACC contest, it was the Benedictine Eagles that came out on top with a 78-65 victory over the Falcons in an important road matchup.  

THE BASICS
Final Score: Benedictine 78, Concordia Wisconsin 65

Records: Concordia Wisconsin 6-8, 4-5 NACC; Benedictine 8-6, 7-2 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a middle of the season battle these two teams fought for a victory and it started with both teams trading baskets. The Falcons were able to get a 10-9 lead early thanks to a three-point bucket by Josh Erickson (Manitowoc, Wis.) but on the ensuing offensive possession by the Eagles, Kejuan Glosson was able to answer right back with a triple of his own making the score 12-10 in favor of Benedictine. The Eagles proceeded to go on a 20-3 run that helped them jump out to a 32-13 lead with just over 6:00 left in the first half.
- Concordia Wisconsin was able to battle back by eventually getting the lead down to just eight points before going into the break, making it a tight 38-30 lead for the host. Benedictine once again, went on a 9-3 scoring run to open the second half pushing the score to 47-33.
- The Falcons tried to make a run with just over 10 minutes remaining in the contest, as they got within five points with a tally of 55-50 in favor of the Eagles. Benedictine stood tall as they never let Concordia get back into to the game from that point forward. The host kept at arm's length by not allowing the Falcons to get within nine points for the rest of game.
- The Falcons did see a great performance from freshman Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) as he was able to pour in 27 points as he displayed his sharpshooting abilities knocking down 6-of-10 from downtown to go along with five rebounds. Senior Josh Hau (Slinger, Wis.) was able to provide 18 points, as he got to the line by exploiting the gaps in the defense and cashing in, going 9-for-9 at the charity stripe. Junior Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) was able to pull down 10 rebounds and score 10 points by using his athleticism around the rim.  

THE OPPOSITION
- Benedictine relied on Brayden Olsen, as he was able to net 25 points and dish out six assists. Glosson followed up with 18 points and six rebounds, while Eric Grygo chipped in 13 points and five rebounds.
